Brief information: Spaced season two is a riot. Thank you for your time.
I found a notice at As Above about Another British Zombie movie which will feature Simon Pegg: Shaun of the Dead. Dear God, I want to see that one badly.
This is murder in the slow lane. Amazon lists Steven Brust's "The Paths of the Dead" as a December release, but we all know how much we can trust Amazon pre-release dates. Since Mr Brust has gone through the page proofs, it doesn't seem totally unlikely. The main thing is that the publishing schedule at Tor is... Well, it only goes as far as August 2002.
Since yesterday (the 21st) it has been Banned Book Week and I almost forgot all about it.
Tommy explains Donnie Darko: "It's about a bunny from the future that harasses a guy who almost died from an airplane engine." Brilliant.
At Bookslut I found this essay by China Miéville about fantasy. I've heard it before, but not everyone has. I must say that I agree on most of this, but the parts where I disagree are forgiven due to his point at the end. (Comfort books can be nice to, but only in small doses. TV and movies is what I use as comfort entertainment.)
Those of us who cares about this: 0:10 today, season three of Buffy on TV4. If I'm not mistaken, there exist people out there who haven't seen these episodes before. (But who decided the timeslot? 0:10 on a Monday? TV4, you really need to be hit with a large clue-by-four.)
I had a strange urge to watch comfort movies while sobering up. I started about 00:30 and now it's 4:35. Four hours gone, but the mind is on the right track once again. At the of the last one a thought occured to me: what if I just let go?
Tequila shots are bad, m'key? Like that, [sound effect] and they've destroyed whatever soberty you've had before. Avoid them. I think I'll stick to whisky and beer from now on.
Can I do this? Oh, good. In that case: Spaced is one of the best things from Great Britain in eons. And please consider that I generally like all things Brittish.
Was in Växjö to plan an oral assignment. In my group of three people including me there is this older man who is... difficult. The rest of us, me included, is far more easy to work with. Antother thing I noticed today: females in knitted sweaters are very distracting for some reason.
Rather useless but highly nostalgic: reference of lots and lots of lego figures. Some of it is newer crap, but the things from 78-85...
The web is back to normal once again. Whygodwhy — here at the Lost Pages commonly known as the best site on Internet sans IMDB — has dropped the American Idol-thing and returned to the winning concept.
Some people — more than a reasonable number actually — end up here looking for an explanation for the ending of Donnie Darko. Sorry, but it's getting a bit irksome.
Do you all need a road map? Or, just a thought, a big clue-by-four? There is an answer, but you'll have to look elsewhere for it. It isn't in the movie because the moviemaker actually wanted you to do a bit of thinking yourself, it is in you own head. Think. Use the imagination your grade school teacher suppressed with that big paddle. You know you can do it, just... let... go. The answer is there, trust me. If everything else fails, watch it again.
Famous last words #99288: "If we practice real hard, we could turn out to be just as good as the Mouldy Peaches," said by the other half of The Adam West Fanclub Experience.
I've not seen it (yet) but Thumb Wars must be one of the weirdest things ever filmed.
No. Nooooo. BBC Prime won't run Dr Who from the beginning. (Link withheld in protest.) What the hell am I now gonna do on Saturdays?
As reported at Bookslut as well as various mailinglists and what-not's, Neil Gaiman won the Hugo. Yes, it was good and deserved the prize (but only because Tim Powers' Declare was disqualified thanks to the limited edition. I might be wrong about this, but I don't think so.)
The guest of honours at Worldcon 2005 (which will be held in Glasgow): Christopher Priest, Jane Yolen and... Lars-Olov Strandberg. They couldn't have picked better GoH in my (soon attending member) opinion.
