pong

Found at Sore Eyes: text-based Pong. "Genius" is a word that comes to mind, as well as "crack-pot," "fun" and "an idea so stupid it might actually work." The only drawback is that it isn't multiplayer compatible.

books

New books are added to the buy-this-list every single day. Today, the addition comes from Watty: Schott's Original Miscellany. I'm going to buy it, put it in the shelf next to the wonderful Bizarre Books and I will be happy. You hear me? happy.

cameras

Since I like vintage look on things, it will come as no surprise that I would want a Leica Digilux 1 camera. I looks just like those oldschool analog cameras I've heard so much about.

lang.books

Why is it that books about language and linguistics is so expensive? Especially those that deals with difference between spoken and written language. The prices, both new and used, are obscene.

hongkonglegends

Niklas told me about Hong Kong Legends. Rather cheap movies from the forlorn country mentioned in the url.

re-animator

I should continue to write (and re-write some parts) on my C-level essay ("Wordplay in Movie Taglines"). I should, but it is far more temting to sit down on my ass and watch Re-Animator and go through all the extras.

spam

A bit late I discovered the Spamdemic Map. Impressive. [cd has one of these things as well but with one entry per month.]

I have to agree, these are both cool and too damn expensive. I want one. [found at Neverness]

Japanese movies

Two horrible problems have placed themselves in my path. The first is that my fingers refuse to touch the key I want, so I'll have to revise everything I write carefully. Even more so than before.

The second us is a a bit worse: how to get my hands on Japanese movies on dvd, with English subtitles. With Japanese movies I, of course, refer to other than Manga crap. Movies from the steady hand of that Akiria bloke is fairly easy, but what if you want to see new ones?

Curve

Ten days to that time a month when cash flows into my bank account, and now I discover that Curve has released another limited web-purchase-only album. Feel free to buy it as long as you remember to leave one copy.

Reason for rejoicment: my phone works again. But for all you sneaky telemarketers out there, no, you're still not allowed to call.

Dagon

Just one word: Dagon. Stuart Gordon and Jeffrey Combs (no, it's really Ezra Godden who looks like Combs) and a cheap adaptation on a H.P. Lovecraft story. It's textbook, but it is nicely put together. Oh, and Ezra has an orange Miskatonic sweater.

booklog

For the first time in eaons, the booklog is updated whenever I finish a book. Granted, I've only read two books (Night Watch and The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray) since I began doing this, but knock on wood. So you might want to watch the booklog space further down this column in the future.

I have classes tomorrow and a test between Wednesday and early Friday, and today I got my grubby hands around a copy of Christopher Priest's "the Separation." Time, damnit. Time is never around when you need it.

Question: why did we import a silly thing such as Halloween and not Bonfire Night? If I was a kid, I know which of the two I would prefer.

I had missed this variant completely: Morninton Nomic.
